Whole30 Air Fried Buffalo Wings

4.5/5

Note: This recipe is Whole30, Paleo, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, and Soy Free!

I recently got a Ninja Foodi and am completely obsessed! I don’t know how I lived without it for so long, but I’m never going back. These wings taste like they are from your favorite sports bar with the perfect crisp, but have no oxidized or unhealthy oil from frying!

Candidly, I’m not a sports fan and usually only watch/engage with sporting events for the food (lol). Whether you’re a sports junkie or not, these wings will be a crowd pleaser! With fall football back on the air, it’s the perfect time to whip up a batch of these wings! Enjoy!

Be well, stay real,

Whole30 air fried buffalo wings

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 3 lbs chicken drumettes or wings (these are usually inexpensive at the grocery store since it’s a cheaper cut of meat)

  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (I tried the new @primalkitchenfoods one and it did not disappoint!)

Directions

  1. We’ll begin by pressure cooking the wings to get them partially cooked so they don’t over-brown while air frying. Start by adding the 1/2 cup of water to your pressure cooker along with the wings (completely dry at this point). For the Foodi, I placed the wings in the Cook and Crisp basket.

  2. Cook the wings for 5 minutes on High then do quick release for the pressure.

  3. Once the pressure is released, remove and dry off the wings with a paper towel. Toss them with the 2 Tbsp of avocado oil and place in the air fryer.

  4. Air fry the wings for 20 minutes at 390 degrees, stopping to toss them half way through to ensure even crisping.

  5. When they are fully cooked, remove them from the air fryer and toss them in a large bowl with the buffalo sauce.

  6. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce or eat them straight up!

*PRO TIP: If you save and reheat these later (they are still great), you’ll want to toss them with some fresh sauce to keep them well coated 😊
